Smart ideas

Pictures from Pinterest.

To the left – Spray painted hula hoops (rockringar) wrapped with string lights. I didn’t see from the beginning that this was a xmas decoration, but I think that would look great on a patio/garden summer time.
And to the right -as you can see, just logs and a string light. Cosy, and great for safety if you have small children and don’t want to have a real fire. Same idea would work for a chimney (braskamin)!

Bathroom Mood board

bathroom moodboard jpeg

Mood board for our Swedish Master bathroom! I just talked to my contractor and we both think it’s time for me to come home for a few days to pick out LOTS of stuff. So, a flight ticket needs to be booked!

But first, I’m heading over to my renovation here to finish up the last details. The camera is coming with me, it’s time to show you the result. A meeting with my realtor is scheduled for tomorrow and hopefully the house will be on the market before the weekend!! I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it… :)

Guesthouse plans

To give our guesthouse a more modern touch, I’ve picked a super dark grey, almost black color for the whole exterior. I’m aslo planning to add some windows/sliding doors to the patio + build a sun deck. Can’t wait to see the result!

Vintage lockers crush

Help me!! I feel I need some vintage lockers in my life. I would love to use them for the staging at my renovation house, and then for the kids area in our basement. The one above is from Restoration Hardware, but delivery is estimated for June… I don’t do lines and I’m not good at waiting. I want them next week :)

Here’s two other ones I found on Pinterest.

So if you know where I can find some cool lockers with fast delivery?! Let me know!

Moodboard for our lower level

Me like.jpg

Pictures from Pinterest and Casa Cook.

It was a long time since I talked about our Swedish renovation. I’m at the moment planning the basement. Our builder Jens is fantastic to talk design ideas with and he even has free hands to certain stuff, that’s how awesome he is and I can trust him. Right now he’s doing demo work at the lower level. At the same time we are finalizing the floor plan and after that we need to wait for permits (bygglov) before we can start the fun!

The lower level will include our master bathroom, master bedroom, spa area with sauna, shower, bathroom and a locker room, lounge area with bar and fireplace, a playroom for the kids, a spiral staircase, sliding doors and big sliding glass doors that we can open up to the pool area. Oh, this is gonna be amazing!!

My dream living room

I was inspired by Arhaus to share my dream living room… and this is what I came up with!

Velvet sofa, velvet chair, daybed, round coffee tables and pillows//Arhaus  Rug//Layered  Lights & side table//TomDixon   Mirror//Unison     Pictures//SaatchiArt   Throw//HMhome  Candle//JonathanAdler  Candle stick//Newport   Marble box//HouseDoctor

I think the sofa is the most important furniture in a living room, and this blue velvet sofa is to die for!! Peaceful and soft calm colors, mixed with polished crome and brass. And I always love to use some black details in my design to get some depth, like the mirror, picture and the legs on the side table here. A good tip when you put materials together, mix hard and soft materials, and add some wood to get a little ‘earthy’ tone for a warmer feeling, even if I like here, picked colder blue and green tones. Mix round and square shapes and have fun :) Coffee table books are always a good idea and a green plant is a must!! The bigger the better!! Same rule for the rug! This shiny viscose rug from Swedish Layered (that I have in my real living room and would pick again) puts the whole room together and makes the sofa pop!

Good evening from the airport

Hello!! Long time no see :) I’ve been busy working and preparing for our trip tomorrow. We decided to check into Westin at Detroit Metropolitan airport, to save some time and stress tomorrow morning. Me like!!
I had a plan to take a cool picture of Oliver when he was looking out at the airplanes, but once the camera was up he was done with that, hehe! This little man. Is fast.

I love my suitcases from Rimowa. It’s eight years since I got them and I’ve decided to like all the defects and scratches, and see it’s as memories. But… I’m drooling over their new collection Bossa Nova…

See you in… stay tuned!!

Mud hall planning

Beautiful custom made built ins by  Brandywine Construction.

Arya, the owner of the company is amazing, he’s the guy that built our home. (Not our house above)

I’m sitting here planning my mud hall for my renovation house, which is not as big as above, have to show you pictures soon! Built ins are always looking sharp, but I don’t want to spend too much money, so I think I will end up buying a piece of furniture… or not… hmm… I need to talk my contractor Dan, at Iron Mountain, tomorrow. He’s so great too!! Super impressed how fast and well everything is going.

Now, off to an early Redwings game with the kiddos. It’s a holiday here today, Martin Luther King day, so no school!

Crushing on round mirrors

From Omni Hotel in Nashville. How cool is this wall?! Also, their brunch is to die for…

I’ve been crushing on round mirrors for a long time. Here are some more pictures from Pinterest.

In the summer I bought two big round mirrors for our renovation house in Sweden. One is actually for a big wall in the kitchen. I feel you can have mirrors anywhere! I’m also planning to get another round mirror for the powder room at my renovation here in the States. One of many things I’ve on my to do list!

It’s our last night here in Aspen. More pictures will come from this lovely trip. I’m a big ski fan, and it has been so nice to be here!!
