Part of our master suite

To be honest I’ve never sat in this chaise but, I think it fills out the room and gives it a warm contrast to the marble, grey walls and dark green curtains. I got the chaise when our lovely friends Joakim and Lisa moved to Sweden. I also used it when I was styling my two house flips.

The sun rays peeked in so beautiful here today so I had to take some photos.

This marble wall – perfect to divide a big room and also a great place to have the tv. Do you have a tv in your bedroom, btw? I know it’s not good for the feng shui, but it’s a must for us. I love going to bed early and watching shows. Or when the kids were little and we could snuggle in the mornings, meaning the kids were watching Curious George and the momma could sleep a bit extra :)

February 1st

Hej februari! Hur fort gick januari egentligen??!!

Hello February! How fast did January go??!! I start this month waking up in Buffalo, NY. It’s so freaking cold, but the 4,5h car ride went great yesterday.

I was home for 1,5 day. I got time to unpack all Mexico bags, do tons of laundry, pack up for this trip, two pilates sessions, took some photos and fixed our two guest rooms. Because now we have four Swedish guys visting. Johan and Oliver are home hosting!

I think the living room with focus on the fireplace – is in the top of ‘most photos on the blog’ thru the years. But it’s my favorite detail in our American home.

Now – time to go to Eddie-Bo’s first game of the tournament!

Home with sick kiddos

Both kiddos are home from school with fevers today. Is it ok to say that I think it’s a little bit cozy?! Of course I don’t want them to be sick, but we are having a nice time together playing board games and watching movies, eating waffles and ice cream on a regular Tuesday.
And at the same time I’m still doing laundry – Hotel Franzen has turned into Franzen’s Laundry Service!

Pics from the sitting area in our Master suite. Love this space. The sofa is so comfy and perfect for watching tv, reading books, or even sleeping on. Oliver and I slept here last night with his new dinosaur duvet cover, that btw matches the colors in here :)

I moved down the black sofa table to the living room, so right now I’m using this ottoman with a tray on it.

The fireplace – before and after

IMG_0950 2

It’s time for another before and after! I liked the old fireplace, but I thought it was too small for the room and the new one just goes better with the new style. This old living room is now our kitchen!

Couldn’t be happier with the result!!

Lots of marble

There is so much I love about our American home. This marble fireplace is one of my favorites. It’s a real statement piece in our master suite, that divides the sitting area from the bedroom area. I also love how it matches the marble we have in our master bathroom, kitchen and butlers pantry. It puts it together if you know what I mean!

Oh my. I’m so tired. Last night was great and it got pretty late. And today has been a busy day with hockey and skiing. I took the boys all by myself skiing, just about 40 minutes away from home. Puh, lots of work but we had so much fun. No meltdowns, high five! They did great and I’m so proud of them. You never know, next time might be different :)

Now→ bed and an episode of Vikings!

Before and after

From our Swedish home! I love this area with the original fireplace even though it went thru a big facelift and we got great storage with doors and handles that match the kitchen. And very special to me -my grandma’s chair that I got reupholstered (omklädd).

Now over to before:

Hard to see in the picture but the ceiling was very low. Did I keep anything? Yes I did! The tile floor and the inside of the fireplace.

Work in progress.

Details -Brass candle holder and candles from HilkeInDesign and vase from Iems in Jönköping.

I’m so happy we could open up the ceiling, expose the beam (that now is stained/betsadand add spotlights!

Hope you like to see some before and after pics!

Right now

Cozy time in front of the fireplace with a magazine and a glass of red wine, perfect after today’s activities. Saturday means hockey and flag football for us. And today it was cold outside, brr. While I’m heating up here the boys are heating up in the sauna!

My wine and nails, so matchy! I finally started to like red wine again after 7 years. After I had Eddie-Bo my wine taste changed, but I’m happy about being back :) I feel the fall and red wine is a good combo!

Tonight I’m heading downtown for a girls dinner, saying good bye to Kecia that is moving to Pittsburgh. Her boyfriend got traded, one of the downside to the hockey life. But I’m sure we’ll have a great night!

Fireplace and candles

When I’m not at concerts, which is pretty often (three the last three weeks!), I’m mostly ending my evenings right here in our master suite, in front of the fireplace and lighted candles. Now it’s time for me to watch Wahlgrens Värld, a Swedish reality show that I love!

New week

Hello Monday and a new exciting week!
I thought I posted this picture from our living room yesterday, I guess I forgot to press publish… The weekend has been so good! Saturday night turned into a spontaneous wine/drink night at our house with lots of great friends and we listened to old favorite songs, super fun! And yesterday I took the kids to the early Redwings game and had a nice family day.

I just got home from a work out and next stop is my renovation house. I’m actually gonna be a handy woman today and assemble some stuff. The painters are there at the moment and my contractor is working on the kitchen. The house is close to be all done. Can’t wait!! Hopefully we can put up the ‘For Sale’ sign in two weeks!!

Enjoy your day!!

Grammy Awards night

Good evening! I’m sitting here having a cozy night, drinking tea (old favorite cup from Anthropologie) and watching Grammy Awards. So many great performances. Ed Sheeran, come on, so awesome!! I was suppose to be at a surprise birthday party right now (including party bus and karaoke, how fun!!) but no energy for that, even though I don’t like missing parties :)

Otherwise I took Eddie-Bo to hockey in the morning  and then I was at a fun jewelry party in the afternoon. Will show you some pictures from that event tomorrow. After that I cooked dinner and baked a birthday cake for our amazing babysitter Lisa!! Happy Birthday Lisa!!
