From our Swedish home! I love this area with the original fireplace even though it went thru a big facelift and we got great storage with doors and handles that match the kitchen. And very special to me -my grandma’s chair that I got reupholstered (omklädd).
Now over to before:
Hard to see in the picture but the ceiling was very low. Did I keep anything? Yes I did! The tile floor and the inside of the fireplace.
Work in progress.
Details -Brass candle holder and candles from HilkeInDesign and vase from Iems in Jönköping.
I’m so happy we could open up the ceiling, expose the beam (that now is stained/betsad) and add spotlights!
Hope you like to see some before and after pics!
This bathroom is almost complete!! On the to do list -a bigger mirror, handles, molding around the door and some more painting. I’m beyond happy about the result!!
Here – before pictures:
It’s kind of an award space as you can see, you can’t be too tall, but I fell in love with the beams and saw the potential. There where pipes under the ledge, and I remember the day my contractor called me with good news, that they where able to get rid of those and get new ones under the floor. That made a huge difference. I will give you some more details another day!
The family room in my renovation house is so cozy, my favorite room except for the kitchen. Lots of new fresh paint, the floors (like everywhere) got sandblasted and stained and new black hardware. I also got rid of the wood blinds to get a more modern look and also to let the light in!
Wall color// SW7669 I see on the pictures the grey looks a little green tone, but it’s not. All white// Bright white. The chimney is painted in bright white as well, but with some special paint made for fireplaces.
I liked their custom made rug, I decided to keep that one!
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Before – The old dining room:
After – A mud hall (grov-ingång):
I found this piece of furniture at West Elm. The baskets are from Home Goods. Pillow and bag, oldies from my house!
Coat & shoe rack and wardrobe// Ikea
We moved the previous door from the kitchen and instead we took some space from the garage to build a new entryway.
From my renovation house and the new kitchen! It’s so close to be all done. Can’t wait to get the hood, stove and fridge/freezer installed and to get rid of all mess and dust!!
The tile is up!! My first plan was to do white herringbone (fiskbensmönster), but decided to save some money on that and ended up with this instead, that I also think looks really good!
Cabinets and handles// Ikea Countertop// Zodiac quarts, color London Sky (kvartskomposit) I can really recommend quarts if you are redoing your kitchen. Not sensitive at all, compare to real marble, that stains and scratches so easy.
The details, LOVE!!! Here I splurged some money though ;) These are the pieces I had to wait for so long, but it was worth the wait, I’m so happy with the result. Love costume made pieces!
More pictures to come in a few days when it’s completed!!
Powder room, almost done! The electrician has some more work to do.
The crown molding for the kitchen, along with two other pieces we’ve been waiting for a long time, are finally here. They are spray painted and color matched with the cabinets. That company was cleary not the fastest on the planet… however I’m happy we now can finish the kitchen. Will show you the kitchen later this week.
Love the foyer. It’s almost completed. A little more painting left to do.
Basement carpet and laundry vinyl floor, all done!
I’m reusing some cabinets from the old kitchen in the laundry room to save a few $$. I think it will look really good whenever the walls are painted and the counter top is installed.
My lovely painters, please COME BACK ASAP!!
What color?? First I was thinking white walls, but since I’m selling the house, I think a lighter grey is a safer choice…
The yard is messy again after last week’s storm. Easy to fix! Just a phone call away, haha :)
Time to keep working! I’m planning to stage the house whenever is done, so I need to figure that out.

Yesterday, these guys woke me up and said -We are coming to install the railing. And I thought ‘Wow on a Saturday’!! Then i realized it was Thursday :)
Love! Will show you some before and after pictures soon.
The floor, taadaa!! Only the shoe molding (liten list) is missing here.
The living room.
From the kitchen.
Love the ceiling!
The family room, or at the moment my contractor’s office and lunch room! Next week it’s time for me to paint the chimney! This room got painted long time ago. I remember I said white shelfs please, but I changed my mind and called back an hour later and said grey! But it was too late, they work fast my painting crew!! But it still bugs me a little, even if it looks good!
Ok, let’s go down to the basement!
Drywalls in the new laundry room, check!
And I guess they are drywalling here, right now! It was a weird layout here from the beginning. Hard to see in the picture, but we knocked down a door and a closet, moved the door to the bathroom and made a whole new laundry room where a storage room was.
And behind me is…
… this room, that is waiting for paint and a cozy carpet. And a clean up!
Countertops, check! Once again I’m using quarts, that is not (so damn) sensitive as real marble and I’m super happy with the result. (Zodiac quarts, color London Sky, from Hard Rock Stone works).
My floor company, Finishing Touch, is sandblasting and staining the rest of the floors this week. They were five guys total when I made a quick stop to take some pictures!
The railing is all done, and soon the floor will be matching.
Everything on the second floor is pretty much all done. Only the doors and mirrors for the bathrooms are missing up here.
Next week the kitchen will be completed and the painters will be back. I might help them, I love to paint! There is also more work in the basement to do.
We are getting there!! Can’t wait!
The new railing is up and is now waiting for paint and stain!
A lot of trim work (lister, foder) is going on at the moment. This is a new opening to the kitchen.

Today my guys started to install the kitchen! This area was before the old kitchen and a dining room, and I really like the new lay out, now with a big kitchen and a mud hall (groventre) in the back. Also, in love with the boxed ceiling (that also cover the new beam we had to add since we got rid of a wall.)
Kitchen cabinets from Ikea -Bodbyn.
The new mud hall. This is the space I was talking about yesterday. (part of the old dining room).
And here is the new entry way from the garage.
We have about four more weeks until it’s all done!! Woop woop!
